I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.....many remember this little ditty from childhood. Few know, however that this is the name of a song first recorded in 1928 by (according to this source) Harry Reser's Six Jumping Jacks with vocals by Tom Stacks.
Incidentally, not only does the song avoid mentioning that the only genuine screaming associated with "ice scream" belongs to the suffering cow animals and their cow baby animals (milk when used as an ingredient in ice cream is obtained by stealing it from the mother cow and denying that milk to her baby after separating mother and child...permanently...from one another)....the song is casually overly familiar and disrespectful (if not racist) in its references to the Eskimo peoples.
Little did you know.........
Here's something to consider if you want to enjoy a good taste and not contribute to the unnecessary suffering of sentient beings:
Chocolate cuties are quite tasty (don't consider them "health food" however...except for the health and well being of cows and their babies) and if you can't imagine going without the taste of ice cream...well don't. You don't have to...cuties can serve quite well to address any desire for an ice cream fix and in addition to chocolate...my favorite.....they come in a variety of other flavors.
Try a cutie and do your part to finally end the screaming associated with the obscenity called "dairy products". Go vegan and help end all the suffering.

Never seen these before. Where does one purchase? Oh and have you ever tried almond milk? I have seen it and wondered what its like. I really dont drink milk but I am curious.
Thanks Christina for commenting. I have tried soy, almond and rice milk. I much prefer rice milk although dark chocolate almond milk is terrific. Cuties can be found at Dodsons in Norman, I don't know where in OKC. Tell ya what, I will bring you and madam director one in the morning....is chocolate ok? :-)
Chocolate is ALWAYS ok.
Christina, I have the rice milk and the dark chocolate almond milk. You can sample them tomorrow. I like them both.
I had no idea that "I scream, you scream" was a song. I only knew those words and I just thought it was something kids said. Considering it came from 1928, I can just imagine what you are referring to as far as racism. And although this is not a vegan thing, the movie "Bamboozled" came into my mind. If you haven't seen that, you really should. It is extremely depressing though. ... They have some kind of tofu ice cream here in Germany although it's hard to find. I don't eat sugar though so I can't have it, but at least they make it. If you knew how much Germans love ice cream, it's a really big deal that anyplace here sells cruelty-free ice cream at all.
Christina, Almond milk is very good! I used to drink it a lot in Brooklyn. They don't seem to sell it here, at least I haven't found it, but it is good and I think a healthy alternative to soy milk - a lot of us probably get a little more soy than is ideal, but there's not a lot of other choices in some places. I know there's different types of almonds and I'm not sure, but I don't think the kind I was drinking came from sweet almonds. That might have been a bit much. Anyway, it's worth giving it a try!
"I scream, you scream"... I remember the song. When I was a kid and the ice "scream" truck would jingle by, the adults would all sing it and hand us quarters to buy our favorite treat.
There's a truck that circles my neighborhood nearly every afternoon... They play a loud and obnoxious tune. The silly song and the contrasting brutal reality are often difficult for me to bare. Honestly, I don't ever see anyone buying off these trucks. I don't know how they afford the gas. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't subsidized by the government/dairy conglomerates.
Aside from wishing for flat tires and seized engines, indulging in Cuties or my favorite So Delicious, Purely Decadent, Rocky Road is a very effective coping strategy!
Almond milk is wonderful. Try not to buy Silk brand, which is now owned by Dean Foods!
Thanks Bea for commenting. Speaking of mobile ice cream trucks...not ice "scream"...here is a link to someone conveying vegan treats to neighborhoods...and...she calls her company "Like No Udder": http://www.like-no-udder.com/
I will have to search out some of your Rocky Road suggestion. Thanks
Thank you Susan for commenting. I agree, avoid the Silk brand when possible, Dean Foods...is one of the largest corporate dairy operations around.
Blue Diamond Almond Breeze is a widely available brand with a tasty almond milk product that has no animal food production connection that I am aware of.
Or, if you want to bypass the corporate folks (somewhat) and be more certain of what you are getting and/or inadvertently supporting...make your own: http://www.rawfoods-livingfoods.com/how-to-make-almond-milk.html
