Hope for the future......

I was led to this young woman's You Tube channel by a posting on the Animal Liberation blog.  I then watched a video she had made and it is presented below.  She makes reference in her talk to the documentary Earthlings, which can be seen online for free.

The documentary is a powerful exposition about the havoc we are wreaking on the natural animals and on the planet.

And, I found the video from the young woman to be compelling and poignant.  Watching her evoked in me a terrible sense of sadness and loss about the kind of devastation that we older generations have and are inflicting on sentient beings and the planet and that this is our legacy to this young woman and her cohorts.  We owe the young ones (all the young animals) a better world than we have managed to shape.

The video is simply her talking about seeing behind the lies we pretend are true and how her trying to tell others about this meets with resistance and rejection.  She has a terrific Aussie accent and expresses herself very well. Take a look and listen see what you think.

The best chance for awareness is that younger humans start waking up at earlier ages than what I and a lot of us did. If you aren't raised by parents who are already there, you have to come to it on your own somehow. It does give a spark of hope to know that other people of much younger ages are figuring it out or are hearing the few voices trying to shout over the masses. Hopefully that generation will be a turning point - because I fear that's the last chance. If these young folks don't put the brakes on the train wreck we've caused... Thanks for finding the video.

Krissa, I agree that waking up earlier is needed....the why and how of our managing to put the young (and the old) into such a destructive and insidious trance in the first place is something that eludes me. Daniel Quinn's book Ishmael was mega-provocative for me.

Yep, I was going to say the same thing about the younger generations having to stop the insanity that we've created. A compelling video indeed. And so true what she was saying about consumers being so far removed from knowing how our food is produced that we even forget that cows have to be continually pregnant (and thus robbed of their offspring) in order for us to even have the milk we drink.

Just reading the briefest description of the book Ishmael let's me know that I can't read it - I'd get way too emotional. I read about it today in an unrelated story and all it took was that little description of a caged Gorilla telling a man what it felt like to live that way and .... whew. I don't think I'd make it through that. Makes me teary right now. :(

Ummm, that 'anonymous' was me. I thought I signed my name with the "url" option thingy. Anyway, just wanted to un-anonymous' myself! :)

Thanks for commenting So I'm Thinking of Going Vegan. The fact about cows is so obvious yet so hidden at the same time....amazing.

Thanks for commenting Anonymous (and thanks for visiting), please don't avoid Daniel Quinn's writings if at all possible. Ishmael fascinated and irritated me at the same time....it is not written in a way that is evocative of sentiment (at least I didn't think so). Quinn is trying to wake us up from our self-induced trance and his efforts are very much worthy of being read.

This is a terrific video. There's a definite push for those against veganism to accuse (well reasoned) thought as "opinion". And the trouble is - that it is THEY who avoid fact for the sake of "tradition" or willful ignorance.

Shelly did a great job on this video. Her sincerity and logic is disarming. If you get a chance - Watch the one she made about dairy... Just as compelling.

Thanks for posting this and spreading the word! :)
